Two aircraft

Two planes, two kinds of day.You pick which one takes you.

The Cirrus for distance and for four of us. The Bristell for a short hop over Bohemia when there are only two.

Cirrus SR22, the bigger of the two

Cirrus SR22

The long one
  • Seats 4
  • Cruise 320 km/h
  • Range 1 400 km

Alps, the Adriatic, Venice. Whole-airframe parachute, de-icing, oxygen on board.

Bristell B23, the lighter of the two

Bristell B23

The light one
  • Seats 2
  • Cruise 195 km/h
  • Range 900 km

Brand new, glass cockpit, its own rescue parachute. Lighter and simpler, made for a short hop with two on board.

One seat is mine, so the Cirrus takes three of you and the Bristell one. Figures are the operator's, confirmed per flight.

If you are visiting Prague

You do not organise anything.I pick you up at your hotel.

A concert, a river cruise, a castle, and then this. The whole thing fits into one day.

Hotel pickup

Door to door

I collect you in the morning and drive you to the airfield. No taxi, no rental car, no trains.

No surprises

We walk around the aircraft, I explain what will happen and when, and you ask whatever you want.

Where we can go

The map is bigger than you think. Most of Europe is two hours away.

Fifty five airports are in range. These are the ones people ask for most.

Cirrus SR22 on the apron with passengers
The aircraft

It costs more than a house. And it carries a parachute.

The Cirrus family, SR22 and SR22T. A new one is over a million dollars and it is about the most equipped single-engine aircraft you can sit in at that price.

Closer to a car interior than to what people picture when they hear the words small aircraft.

Suitcase fits

A proper baggage compartment, which almost no small aircraft has. Bring a checked-bag-sized suitcase.

Depending on weight and distance. On the longer routes fuel takes one of them.

Never the same plane

I fly several Cirruses and which one we take depends on availability. For short hops a smaller two or four seater works too.

SR22 and SR22T
An aircraft descending under its airframe parachute
If flying makes you nervous

This is not a seat parachute. It lowers the whole aircraft.

A rocket pulls a canopy out of the fuselage and the entire aeroplane comes down under it. Any passenger can deploy it, even if the pilot cannot.

Before we go I walk you through what happens and when. Most of the nerves are gone within the first ten minutes.

I have had people who did not want to fly at all get in because of that parachute.
Empty legs

Sometimes I fly somewhere anyway. And there is room on board.

These are my own private flights. Leave me your contact and I will let you know when I am going somewhere and you could join. The costs are shared between everyone on board, me included.

Questions

People ask the same six things. So here they are up front.

Is this an airline or an air taxi?

Neither. These are cost-shared private flights, so I am not a carrier and I do not sell transport. I fly as a private person, not as a company, and the costs of each flight are shared by everyone on board, me included. It is not an experience flight and there are no tickets.

Is a small aircraft safe?

The Cirrus carries a parachute for the whole airframe and passengers can deploy it themselves. Before we go I brief you on what happens and when.

How many of us can come?

Three to four, depending on weight and distance. On the longer routes the limit drops because of fuel.

What if the weather is bad?

We move the date. I only go up when it is safe, and that is my call rather than the calendar's.

Can I fly it myself?

In good weather and by arrangement, yes, for part of the flight and with my hand next to yours. You do not need to know anything.

Where do we take off from?

Prague, sometimes Příbram or Vodochody. If you are staying in the city I pick you up at your hotel and bring you back the same evening.
